Ann Bender lives in Evergreen Colorado with her husband and
three children. A packaged goods marketer by profession, Ann loves
good food and feels that cooking for the family should be fun and
not the dreaded chore it seems to be for so many people. It's not
the cooking that seems to be the problem, it's coming up with the
interesting dinners week after week. The term "dinner rut" is an
understatement and so many people turn to the "taco-Tuesday"
calendar of cooking.
But turning this perpetual problem into a prospective business
is exactly the tact Karen and Ann took. They looked at the pitfalls
of typical menu planning and came up with a fresh, new approach to
the dinner hour. The detailed grocery list was a pivotal part
of the business as was the fresh, healthy approach to cooking.
Using tons of fresh produce and lean meats helped launch the
"simple gourmet" menu plan.
"The family dinner is on the verge of extinction, but we're
going to change that, " she says, "And we're going to provide the
ultimate in organization and weekly meal planning." Instead of 5:00
being the most dreaded hour of the day, it becomes an enlightening
and peaceful time.
